AEC, on behalf of the Port Authority of New South Wales and the Treasury New South Wales, undertook intercept surveys with cruise ship passengers at the White Bay Terminals and Overseas Passenger Terminal in NSW. The purpose the study was to assist in defining future considerations in port development opportunities by exploring passenger and crew perceptions and attitudes across key travel factors, defining drivers and key considerations of travelling via Sydney, ascertaining passenger satisfaction and evaluating expenditure to identify drivers influencing spend. A complex sampling framework was designed to accurately represent the target population using seven key characteristics. A total of 3,534 surveys were obtained over a period of 4 months achieving a statistically valid sample at a confidence interval of interval of ±1.65 at a 95% confidence level.
