AEC has developed a comprehensive economic impact model which assesses spending by cruise passengers, crew and cruise lines and the estimated contribution to the Australian, State and regional economies including value add, expenditure, employment and incomes. Separate estimates of direct and indirect industry impacts are also provided. The model is updated annually using cruise ship visits, passenger and crew expenditure surveys and cruise line expenditure for the financial year.
The information and analysis presented in the reports ensures a better understanding of the size, growth and economic significance of cruise tourism to the Australian economy to assist with future planning and strategy.
This study has been jointly commissioned by Cruise Lines International Association Australia (CLIA) in collaboration with Australian Cruise Association (ACA).
