Project Title: Charlton Wellcamp Enterprise Area Structure Plan (Economic Analysis)

Company/Companies Involved: Tract Consultants Pty Ltd

Description:

AECgroup was engaged to conduct an economic analysis for the Charlton Wellcamp Enterprise Area Structure Plan on behalf of the Toowoomba Regional Council.  This 2,000 ha industrial development sits approximately 10 km west of Toowoomba adjacent to major road and rail infrastructure.

AECgroup employed a variety of proprietary analytical tools to analyse the future potential of the area.  AECgroup''s Economic Development Opportunity Assessment was used to identify specific future industrial uses based on the area''s competitive advantages, unique characteristics and broader industry growth trends.  Consultation with industry stakeholders was used to refine and confirm this analysis.  AECgroup also used its factors of production analysis to help determine the future utility and land requirements of the identified industries and also projected future employment potential for the entire development.  Given its size, a retail assessment was also conducted to determine the amount of retail area needed to service the future development.  AECgroup also conducted an economic impact assessment to determine the future potential economic impact that the industrial development could have on the region and the state.  Finally, AECgroup''s lead generation tool was used to identify prospective investors in the identified industry sectors for future marketing activities.
