The North Queensland Tourism Opportunity Plan was prepared for Townsville Enterprise Limited and Tourism Queensland to identify key infrastructure investment priorities and opportunities to develop tourism product in North Queensland over the next 10 years.

The project involved extensive consultation with stakeholders across the region, with over 700 tourism ''assets'' in the region and over 600 initial investment opportunities identified. A series of systematic assessments across the triple bottom line and further stakeholder consultations were undertaken to result in 13 key catalyst projects for the region being suggested as well as an additional 42 investments of ''merit'' for the region.

This project represents a significant step in Tourism Queensland''s efforts to build both the supply and demand potential of the Queensland tourism industry.
